Problem connecting iPhone with USB extension cable?

I connect my iPhone to my Macbook via cable and everything works fine.
I try to do the same with a USB extension cable, as a result, when I connect the
iPhone, it gets up for charging, but after 3 seconds it shows that there is no connection.
I tried both USB 2 and USB 3 extension cables, but everywhere the same problem.
External HDD 2.5 works fine. How to fix it ?
