Practice in computer networks?

Began to read Olifer Computer networks. As far as I know, it takes practice to be good at it. What is the best way to do it - first read the book completely and then train in the packet tracer, or is it better after some certain moments in the book?

It is better to take the SDSM cycle and do the labs as it is written there in the course of reading the chapters.
