In general, it is impossible to correctly answer such a question - everything will depend on the model of the laptop, and how power and cooling are implemented in it.
Most often, cooling will not cope, and a faster processor will overheat and drop the frequency, and there will be no sense in replacing it, or it can be replaced for short tasks. Quite often, it is not enough even for a long full load of the native processor.
As for nutrition, there is usually a supply, but reliability suffers from this.
It is necessary to look, perhaps, more powerful processors are installed on the same model with the same board and cooling system. Or use search engines - perhaps someone has already made just such an upgrade and shared the results.
Well, or in the question, at least, indicate the exact model of the laptop and processor, and hope that someone who has tried such an upgrade will read this question, but it is much more productive to conduct your research IMHO.
