I did this when licensing.
With an assistant, we went to the 2nd shift when there was no one, and stupidly and consistently formatted disks, installed only licensed and free software on computers.
There were no production downtimes. by the end of the work, all the computers that we touched that evening were back in service.
There were no plans either. We figured out how many times we will do it. We have informed the right person about the temporary work schedule - and we are on our way!!!
