Photoshop alternative in Ubuntu for front-end developer?

In a virtual machine on ubuntu I drive win7 on it photoshop. There is no better solution
As an option - Photoshop under Wine (slow and buggy).
There are no alternatives, photoshop is one of a kind. Even GIMP, with which it is often compared, is no match for it.
But today LoftBlog released a tutorial on how to properly install Photoshop on Ubuntu.
