Cool question. Like the number of gears on a bike. Does it allow you to go faster - yes. Will you personally go faster on such a bike - and who the hell knows. If you have a plug in disk operations, what's the point of the number of processors?

0) processors are very different
1) the cores, all the more, are very different. Compare some bulldozer and Sandy Bridge
2) if the performance rests precisely and only on the computing cores and assume that the computing capabilities of the core are equal both there and there, then the growth will be linear. Web servers are one of the most easily scalable tasks for a large number of cores.
3) if you hit the base, no cores will help you. Although it will become a little better due to the fact that the web application workers will not take over those 2 cores that are now available.

The commentators are absolutely right – it all depends on your site. Put some measure of resource consumption, find a bottleneck and already think about what you need. So it will immediately become clear how much the productivity will increase, at least approximately.
Again, read John Allspaw's The Art of Capacity Planning.
