Payment terminal and virtualization. Decision?

There are 10-15.20 stores. with a growth trend of 1-2 stores per month.
each store has a payment terminal (the computer is assembled from junk)
operating system win Xp-Win7
Each terminal processes the application, in fact 1 file, kassa.exe is not heavy.
I have a powerful server.
So I'm thinking, is it possible to somehow virtualize each terminal, so that in stores there is a conditional screen, a small device for connecting to the Internet, and all processing is done on the server?

Thin client.
Search for the word vtware - nowhere thinner. Paid.
Or the simplest Linux distribution with xfreerdp/vnc autoload

You can try a thin client on a raspberry pi, but it may be more expensive than a computer assembled from junk
