Organization of a home server on HP ProLiant ML150 G3?

Good day. Appeared in stock HP ProLiant ML150 G3.
I absolutely do not understand server hardware (unlike desktop).
From what I know from the configuration:
Intel Xeon Processor 5110 - 1 pc.
512MB Micron MT9HTF6472FY-667D4D3 PC2-5300 - 1 pc.
512MB Hynix HYMP564F72CP8N3-Y5 AB-C ECC PC2-5300F - 1 pc.
SAS controller HP SAS3080X-HP
SAS screws 15K - 1 pc, 10K - 3 pcs. Native, HP-shnye.
Actually, there is an idea to put this whole thing on the balcony as a home file storage. But, it confuses the amount of RAM (it is not a problem to increase it, the problem is compatibility, there is no way to take it and poke it) and in connecting ordinary ordinary SATA screws (whether they will work in their native basket).
Also, the question is in the OS, which can be set for such tasks: file cleaning
, access over the network (cable), access from the Internet to the file cleaning, downloading torrents.
I'm not strong enough in English, so I ask you not to send manuals to smoke on bourgeois sites.

1) I do not advise you to put it on the balcony. In winter it is cold, and severe cold is not always good for the gland. In data centers, the temperature is about 20 degrees. And this is quite enough.
2) I advise you to put the system UbuntuServer. She is good, and you don’t have to bother with her too much.
3) Make a file hosting service through a shared folder (for windows, if required) using samb'y. + I have ownCloud. A very handy thing. I will not list all the advantages of my own cloud storage these days, but keep the information with me, knowing that no one will steal it, read it, etc. priceless.
4) Regarding the RAM, I will say this: I have an HP Proliant Microserver as a home server. There is a DualCore from AMD with a frequency of 1.5GHz and 2GB of RAM. And under it spins WinServer 2008R2? file sharing, downloaded torrent, VPN + Hyper-V with Ubuntu server to which the monitoring system is attached. And while everything works with a bang, devouring no more than 1 GB of RAM.
5) Regarding the torrent download for Linux: forum.ubuntu.ru/index.php?topic=29576.0
be sure to install the web interface. The thing is more convenient. I have Transmission, but it's not console.
Like everything.

increase is not a problem, the problem is compatibility,

This is exactly the problem. Getting the right memory is sometimes not easy. The advantage is that there is already a different memory, so not everything is so bad.
There are sata connectors on the motherboard, just turn off the Sasovsky controller. Or use together if the power is sufficient.
OS put in what you understand. All this can be organized on Windows, and on large nixes, and on specialized assemblies.

A file washer under GNU / Linux can also remove one die, anyway, there will be enough memory for the eyes and ears.
Install Debian/Ubuntu, nfs/smb file cleaner, torrent downloader, some web-faced transmission or μTorrent®
