Options for implementing a shopping cart on the site?

Good afternoon. Tell me what are the options for implementing the basket for the site.
There is no registration on the site. There is just a list of goods that arrives from the back (C #). By design, the cart itself should be in the form of a popup window.
In part, this is a continuation of the story with my yesterday 's question .
There I tried to implement a basket at the expense of LocalStorage.

1) The simplest and most logical option is to store the selected products on the back, session.
2) LocalStorage - shove json there
