Old laser printer: buy a new one or fix this one?
There is a laser printer HP LaserJet 1022, which served me faithfully in my student years. Functionality, print quality and other completely satisfied. The printer has a broken cartridge (a crooked attempt to refill), you have to buy a new one. This unfortunate incident happened about two years ago, and since then all this time the printer has been gathering dust in the corner of the room as unnecessary. Now I want to get a printer again, like a white man.
Question: what is more reasonable to do now, buy a cartridge for this laserjet, or just buy a new printer? A new cartridge costs 2500 rubles, for this money, in principle, you can even buy a new laser printer. True, it’s completely fig for sure, but 1000-1500 can, in principle, be thrown on. So does this make sense, or can you buy a cartridge and not worry? I'm mainly worried about the fact that it's just been standing for two years. Maybe there are some rollers dusty or something else, you never know, and he will print badly even with a new cartridge. It’s out of the question to dig into it myself in case something happens, one screwed-up cartridge is enough for me :)

Do not try to sell this printer! There is also a 12A cartridge - it's just a legend! For your 3500 on sale you can only find chipped garbage for “to be” tasks with a capacity of 700-1000 pages.
Yes, these cartridges are refilled in some places, but the drums and shafts in them are designed for one or two times - they will immediately streak and give out a dull picture. And 12A is a constructor that allows you to change anything, and even with such a capacity.
Buy a cartridge and make a cool face, looking at the owners of all sorts of modern beautiful state employees.
it took a lot of time and maybe wonderful models came out, in fact, I would do this:
1. allocate a budget
2. look for a laser printer for this budget that is most suitable
3. compare with the current
one 3a. like the new one more - buy a new
3b. one shit - we leave the old one (because the habit is a strong thing)
Something like that.
If it's a cartridge, buy a cartridge, then you will refill it several times. Why do you need a whole printer if the one you have is still alive? ;)
According to HP, the resource of this machine is 8000 sheets / month, it is designed for the small business segment,
when designing, the safety margin should be 2-3 years. My older model has already exceeded 25,000 sheets, although there were problems with refilling the same. As a result, I take compatible cartridges on e-bay so far there have been no problems. The printer is 5 years old.
I own a miracle of technology HP LJ 1010. Two months ago, he began to make strange sounds and stopped typing. I did not bother and took it to the service, where I was informed that the stove died there, and the cost of replacing it - 3,500 rubles - is commensurate with the cost of a new printer.
By that time, he ran back more than a hundred thousand pages without a single repair. And I thought that was it.
Disappointed, came home, dismantled. I saw a chewed film and a blackened heating element. There were part numbers on everything - I punched them on eBay, and for 500 rubles with delivery I ordered both a film and a heating element. It took about half an hour to install (I didn’t know about thermal film lubrication, really. So I had to buy it separately).
Enabled - works.
So inside this piece of iron is simple, like felt boots. If there is something to break, then only mechanics. But on this subject, I am calm - there are hundreds of spare parts on eBay, both original and analogues.
Compatible cartridges - cacti are no worse than the original ones. Moreover, I fill them myself - there are cases for 10 minutes, and a can of toner costs 80 rubles. I make a hole for the toner in the cartridge and plug it with a regular cork, when it starts to print poorly - I just fill it up through the funnel.
When the end of the photo shaft came, I bought a whole new cactus, since it costs 500 rubles.
All in all, a great printer. More than one hundred will pull, I think.
Buy a compatible cartridge, a completely Chinese one can take up to 1000 rubles, even a normal compatible one will cost 1000-1400 rubles, depending on the company. If the printer itself is working, it will print as with the original, I think you will not notice the difference.
