Number of Windows cores on VDS?
Please advise.
Rented a VDS for a workplace. Delivered Win8.1
The system was: 4 cores, 4GB of memory.
Brakes and lags. Not that terrible, but tangible. You can work, but with strain. I looked in the devices - 4 cores. But in the properties of the system and in the performance monitor - 2.
Increased the hoster to 6 percent - the same issue. The performance has not changed, the number of cores in the remote control has increased, in other places it is still 2.
What can be done? Previously, I installed Windows on a physical server, there were 2 Zeon processors, 2 cores each. All 4 were involved and no brakes. And then a nightmare.

Depends on the video device.
If you have kvm virtualization, you can try to put paravirtualized firewood on everything that is possible.
There is also a possibility that in kvm the hoster has paravirtualization extensions for Windows disabled altogether.
Kvm also has such a glitch, at least it was a few months ago, now I don’t know: when a hid device is used as a mouse in tablet mode, Windows wildly loads percents with virtual interrupts, but I don’t think that the hoster will install this type. Although, who knows...
