Nexus 7 (2013) + Windows 8.1 - how to make friends?
There was a problem in which it is impossible to figure it out on my own - I ask for the help of the habrazhiteli.
I have a Google Nexus 7 (2013) and upgraded to Windows 8.1 (from 8.0) on my home PC.
And there is a problem - when the device is connected to a home PC, the system cannot work with it: the device is recognized, but nowhere (except in the list of devices) is displayed, there is no access to internal storage.
Here's how it appears in device manager:
However, on a work PC running Windows 8.0, the device is recognized without problems and access to the storage is possible. Therefore, I am inclined to believe that the problem is in Windows 8.1. but what? Windows Compatibility Center at the same time says that everything is OK with compatibility.
What has already been tried :
- Nexus connected both in developer mode, and as standard, and as a camera and as MTP;
- I tried to install drivers from the Android SDK ("usb_driver_r06_windows")
Perhaps there is a way to somehow pull the necessary drivers from the system on which the device is recognized without problems, i.e. export?
Or maybe there is another way?
I will be glad to any practical advice. Thank you!

Here are the drivers.
unpack to a convenient place, in the device manager, select the installation manually.
on w3bsit3-dns.com everything is painted to the smallest detail, why didn’t you look there first of all?
This problem is also subject to the first generation of the 7-ki. There are several ways to try to solve this problem.
If you need a simple file exchange, then for example I use samba in LAN and ES file explorer on nexus. I haven’t connected Nexuses via USB for a long time, why if everything works fine by air. In addition, samba is an excellent solution for broadcasting video over LAN.
I ran into such a problem and not only this one when using windows 8 - I solved all the problems at once by installing windows 7.
It worked for me on windows 8 sli, on 8.1 it refused. The problem was solved by updating the vbios of the second card from the vendor. It would seem that nothing should be broken. Apparently 8.1 is a pretty radical update.
there was exactly the same problem on 8.1, I tried everything, eventually deleted it from the device manager, then booted into fastboot, installed the driver manually. disconnected, booted into the system, connected and once again removed and installed with handles from the manager. and nothing has helped before.
