Now - none. And this is good. Because music is an individual thing. True, if I am alone in the room (not in the office), I turn on something on my mobile phone. Yes, yes, it's terrible, the sound quality is disgusting, but headphones are prohibited. Someone comes in - I cut it down or turn the volume down to a minimum. And in general, I try not to hear the music behind the open door in the office and not disturb anyone - that is, I always set the volume quite low.
At my last job, “Road Radio” played continuously (if you don’t know what it is, rejoice), it was real hell.
Music in the background is evil, you can't please everyone. At most , just something like www.rainymood.com or there is a background of the forest, etc.
A curious experiment about music was described in the Peopleware book: two groups of students solved computational problems, respectively, one group - to music, the other - not. Productivity was the same, but in the group without music, more people found a "creative" (short) solution. It was explained by the fact that music occupies the creative hemisphere and interferes with solving creative problems accordingly.
It depends on what interests you…
What kind of music can be played so that most of the people in the office will be satisfied with it?
What kind of music works best? And to whom exactly, in what occupation?
I, fortunately, work at home, and even one of me has different music for different things.
To deepen into programming, I use trance - its rhythm fits well with the brain, and due to its simplicity, it does not distract.
For more boring activities I use more diverse music: hard rock, rock and roll, jazz, other styles. So that the brain does not get bored.
And in offices, the radio is usually hot - in those where I have been. Some kind of "maximum", "Europe" or something similar, in general - a stage.
We listen to the radio, quietly, mostly stations where there is absolutely no chatter. Jazz, BESTFM, etc.
It seems that the presence / absence of this factor does not affect the production process.
Internet radio in the kitchenette, everyone still turns on something of their own ... Well, at the workplace everyone is wearing headphones - it’s quite difficult to find something that everyone would like.
how much screaming, swearing noise we had music for everyone an individual choice
but when they turned it
on
Depends on the number of people in the room.
1-2 - you can with music.
More than 2 - it is already very difficult to find something that everyone will like.
For example, we have a business center of 8 floors, hundreds of people work (the business center belongs entirely to the office where I work), there is no music, which is good, since it is impossible to satisfy everyone. Therefore, we all sit in headphones and listen to what we ourselves like. If the office is small, up to 10 people, then it’s easier to collect Wishlist (tracklists) to merge them and see what matches and put it on. But IMHO it's still better for everyone to buy headphones :)
There is no music, which is very good. I can also add that, for example, I do not always want to listen to music. Very often it interferes with my work, sometimes I just want silence.
The only drawback of the headphones is that you can’t hear when colleagues contact me.
In our office I drive sky.fm , di.fm there are a lot of channels / stations, you can always pick up something.
We listen to radio rocks Ukraine in the room 2 people we like, the main thing is that there is no pop and advertising.
