Moisture protection in a mechanical or membrane keyboard in a laptop?

Hello. The membrane keyboard has a layer of material that does not let water through further. That is, if a drop of water accidentally falls under the key of such a keyboard, then nothing will happen (it will not spoil the keyboard and will not leak into the case onto the board).

There is no such layer in a mechanical keyboard, and it turns out that 1 drop can ruin a laptop / keyboard? Steelseries keyboard in a laptop. Or just close the key and it will constantly make input until it dries?

If the keyboard is really mechanical, then under each key there is a mechanical switch in its housing. A single dropcherry_mx_brown.png on the keyboard is unlikely to penetrate inside the switch. But if there is more liquid, and it still penetrates the switches, then do not hope that it will dry out, the switches will need to be replaced. . IMHO
