Modern forum engines?

Friends, I ask you for advice.
I'm a little behind on the topic of the forums. What is now the most popular and with normal functionality? phpBB, vBulletin, whatever.
Which of them will be the most convenient for a gaming clan forum?

vBulletin, SMF, Vanilla, phpbb.
SMF - quite cheerfully sawing, for open source. Vanilla is also sawed, but it is quite specific and does not look like other forums.
There is also the fucking woltlab burning board. In the paid version, it’s generally sweet, but it’s good in the free version. It is wonderful because for the entire time of its existence, a couple of vulnerabilities were found there, which were patched very quickly. Well, he's nice too.

Alternatively, XenForo.

I also advise xenForo - just a cannon engine for the forum, I don’t even feel sorry for the money for it. Huge functionality, convenient, and much more)

nodeBB is a modern, evolving forum written in node.js with plugins and themes.

Perhaps the most developing one is IP.Board. Just recently I saw a module for displaying a game server. There are a lot of them. There are plenty of modules.

From free, IMHO, the best MyBB
