Mobile site or app?

What's better?
And more often used on a mobile device?
Let's say I read the same habr on a mobile device. Do I
use a program or do they read it through a browser (on a mobile device)?
That mobile layout should be present for anyone, yes
But what users prefer
Maybe there are statistics or articles on this topic that are interesting

mob application has the right to exist only if it provides additional. opportunities, such as notification of promotions and discounts, or if it is in the N area from the object, receive a message, etc.
Only for viewing news = I will not install the application to clog the smartphone IMHO.

In the morning, leafing through news sites and other constantly visited sites, I use the browser. The same Habr has a normal mobile version. The point is to put a pack of applications, if it is more convenient to go to the next site from bookmarks in two taps

This question is still relevant for the last couple of years, and so far the scales have not tipped in one direction with a significant advantage. From a technical point of view, a website, and especially an interactive one, is significantly inferior to an application in terms of speed. Also, the application is quite tightly integrated with the mobile platform and allows you to implement a familiar interface, although it is difficult to update and control the application after it has been downloaded. However, let's return to users as the main indicator in this matter. Everything will depend on the target audience of the resource for which you need to create an application, or for which an adaptive design / mobile version is enough. Users prefer to get the information they need quickly and without unnecessary gestures. If you read habr on mobile every day, and sometimes even several approaches, isn’t it more convenient to download the application? Given that applications can work without a connection, caching and updating data, if necessary, when a connection appears. But the application still needs to be connected in the vast majority of business solutions.
