Migration from MS Office to Libre Office: problem with formulas?
I want to transfer home to a normal axis and normal software (open, etc.), first software. Let them get used to the software first, and then we will convince them that Linux is not
scary ecoshne microsoft and in MatType (I know very vaguely what kind of animal it is, but it seems to be like windows-only).
Neither Libre-office nor Open-office can read these formulas, somehow I don’t feel like retyping all this by hand either (there are really a lot of files and there are also a lot of formulas in them). Tried to google what can be done, but found nothing. Maybe a respected someone came across this and found a solution, or can somehow reassure me?
I really hope for you, otherwise my virus catchers (users) are tired of me, that I have no strength.

I have not come across such a question myself, but for converting from MathType to LaTex look at MathMagic . At the very least, support for both MathType and LaTeX and batch processing of .doc / .docx files is declared.
All in all, it looks interesting. But it is only for Windows and Mac. And proprietary, but there is a version for personal use.
I do not agree with your approach, I think that you need to immediately switch to another OS. From my modest experience, it follows that a number of ported freeware programs are more stable and faster in their native environment - in Linux. Plus, Linux does a lot better with TeX-derived word processors, if that's what you're interested in.
Here is an interesting material on typing formulas in MSO and LibreOffice

As far as I know, formulas are not converted (I could be wrong). But there is good news: with LibreOffice, your mother can learn the Orthodox TeX format, in which formulas are typed there and live happily ever after.
Great start! Firstly, it’s worth google on the topic “openoffice word formula editor”, since libreoffice is still a descendant and young. Secondly, the problem is most likely the absence of the Symbol font in Linux, there is only open OpenSymbol as a rule. Well, in general, you can lay out, for example, a file with a problematic formula, I would see what's the matter.
Formulas from MathType must be converted to Ole objects, unfortunately this does not always work. LaTeX is the best solution for writing formulas for Linux. But as far as I know, there is no comprehensive solution for the Word format.
As far as I understand, different versions of MathType have different storage formats for formulas. Sometimes formulas open successfully, but at the same time, there is a complete mess inside these formulas. Each character is assigned what font and what style to display them. At one time, I raked everything with my hands when I remade someone else's control for my own version. Of course, the sources were in Word, I worked in OpenOffice. Theoretically, under all these perversions, it was possible to write a script for automation ...
