Make Linux Mint and iPhone 5 friends - have you tried almost everything?

I want to send music, videos and documents to my phone. Does not work. I tried this:
VirtualBox with Win7 - it just does not start, "the program has stopped working." Ideally, I would like to deal with this method.
Rhythmbox - writes this: the Rhythmbox spoiler has detected a device that may be an uninitialized or damaged iPod device. Before a device can be used in Rhythmbox, it must be initialized, but this will destroy any existing song metadata. To initialize your iPod, complete the information below. If the device is not an iPod, or you don't want to initialize it, click the Cancel button.
Amarok - I do not see any way to connect.
Exaile - the list with devices is empty, although Linux sees the iPhone as a USB flash drive.
GTKpod - there is no iPhone 5 item in it, when choosing 4ki it does not initialize.
Just throw it off like on a flash drive - it's useless, it doesn't see it.
At the same time, the system sees the iPhone as a USB flash drive. Tell me, how did you solve the compatibility problem between Linux and iPhone 5?

Maybe it's in iOS 7?
In general, there is such a cool project libimobiledevice (http://www.libimobiledevice.org/), I have a dream to have free time and make the implementation of music synchronization, but so that the process is simpler than in iTunes. In linux, one could generally make such a cunning file system driver so that everything works like copying to a USB flash drive, and the regeneration of the library would be hidden.
It was a lyrical digression, the bottom line is that most software for working with iOS somehow uses libimobiledevice and usbmuxd. Perhaps the protocol has changed again in iOS 7 and needs a little file work.

About 3 years ago I used to synchronize the old iPod with Linux:
www.yamipod.com/
Iphone and the latest models - xs will it pull, NO WARRANTY and all that, although the software seems to be updated.
UPD: sorry, I didn’t notice right away - except IPhone, it won’t work, iPod only.
