Made an application for the iPhone, registered a developer account, stuck at the stage that you need an iOS device?

How to publish an application? There is a lot of information on the Internet, but all outdated, damn it. I'm trying to do it through Xcode, I'm stuck at the stage " Unable to create a provisioning profile because your team has no devices registered in the Member Center. Please connect a device, enable it for development, and add it to the Member Center using the Organizer. ".
I don’t have an iPhone, can I somehow get around this or do I have to go buy and do without it? Can I borrow a device from friends, enter data and forget?
If anyone has experience with publishing, please share.

You can take it, but a shoemaker cannot be without boots, i.e. in the future, you will still need to purchase the device.

Have you made an application without running it on a real device?
Do you guarantee that it will work on all devices?
Think, think carefully...and then go and buy a device, or rather several and different ones..what kind of developer are you without devices..like a driver without a car..
