MacBook > HDMI > external monitor = no sound, what should I do?

Hello! I connected the MacBook to an external monitor via HDMI - HDMI cable = everything works fine, but for some reason the sound stopped playing in the laptop itself, what should I do?

the sound goes out via HDMI, in the sound settings, select the output - built-in speakers. The sound should return
