Mac OS X + chmod and the @ symbol?

I noticed one feature when running the ls -l command in the Mac OS X terminal - after specifying the access rights, the symbol @
[email protected] ~/sites $ ls -l

These directories are sometimes invisible in Finder, but in MC they are perfectly visible.
What is the @ attribute in permissions?
