Looking for an example odbc reader

I need to make a script to which the client connects via odbc and bullets there like in db requests, the script parses them and does special magic. I'm new to odbc, and if you don't find anything, you'll see how to work with db through odbc. And here the script should be a fake database. Can anyone suggest something to read? I understand python and perl.

I think we need to take an open source ODBC driver for FireBird or MySQL and cut a bit of extra stuff in it :-)
