Long-term archiving - after DVD?

I use DVD discs for long-term archiving of photos and work files and keep these discs at home or leave them with my previous employer (if they are work results).
But, discs are used less and less and such drives are becoming less and less common. Moreover, I would like to use larger media. What alternatives are there that won't die out anytime soon?
I'm using a high capacity hard drive for short to medium term storage, but it's already been dropped and damaged. You have to access it more often than DVDs, which increases the likelihood of a fall. I don't particularly want to use network storages for storing such files either. The KGB, SBU and the first departments forever instilled caution in such things.

Home NAS + change drives over time (and put the old ones on the shelf).
