Linux Mint freezes when using NVIDIA graphics card heavily?

Hello.
I recently started studying neural networks. I am using python3 pytorch library in jupyter notebook environment. Accordingly, my task is to train a neural network using 3 cnn layers and 2 fc layers. Thus, 3.5GB is allocated on the video card. I'm using my laptop's GeForce 950M 4GB graphics card.
Problems start when I clear memory from one notebook. Linux Mint 18.2 completely freezes and cannot be brought out in any way, except for a stupid shutdown by pressing the off button (ctrl + shift + f1 does not help either, it just does not respond to this command).
Is it possible to fix this laptop behavior? Is this a hardware issue?
update: Linux driver now does not see the card.
I checked the card on Windows using FurMark. Everything is OK. The laptop did not reboot, but the card is alive. I also checked on linux with this program, too, everything is okay.

xs about hardware, but the behavior of viduha is very much dependent on drivers,
and video card drivers for linux are made with the back foot - for Windows gamers

There may be a problem with pytorch. A couple of days ago, one person in the AI Community telegram chat complained about the exact same problem. Claims that the bug is in the library itself.
