Linux for HTPC?

Looking for a distribution (preferably debian-like) to install on HTPC. The frontend will be XBMC. Movies will be all in HD.
System: AMD E-350, ATI Radeon HD 6310, DDR3 4Gb ( details )
Tested: Mythbuntu 11.10 x64, Ubuntu 11.04 x32. I didn’t like Mythbuntu at all, and I couldn’t set it up like a human being. Ubuntu + XBMC - almost great, but some movies slow down. I suppose 2 options: either because of the x32 pae system or because of the crooked ATI driver and the video card acceleration that did not turn on.
Please tell me if there will be a difference between x32 and x64 system in this case.
Or advise a good software bundle for solving my problem.
And, maybe, someone knows a good manual for finishing up the ATI driver to a working state.

Slow down mkv 1080> 5Gb. I can't say for sure right now.
Thank you for XBMCLive. Didn't know about him.
