Licensed ISO images of windows
I rearrange the system on my friend's laptop, on the back of the laptop there is a sticker with a license code. Windows - Win XP Home. I'm trying to find an ISO image on the net in which I could legally enter the key and use the updates. Warez everywhere, I searched on MSDN, but did not find it. Who will tell you where you can find licensed images of XP Home?

By the way, how is the result? Did the serial come from OEM Windows from the laptop to the MSDN image?
It is clear that if you download an image of the operating system, then some people prefer to download the official one so that it does not have any third-party software preinstalled and one of the best options is to download Windows from the official Microsoft website. I needed to find an image of early versions of Windows on my own on the official website, I couldn’t find them, I decided to call support, find out exactly where to find old Windows images, in response I received that it was already only on third-party sources, since support for all versions except Windows 10 terminated. It's strange, of course, that they stopped keeping images of Winsows 7 and 8 so early, but I even needed XP. At the same time, in support, they explained to me that the lists of official hashes of disk images (or their iso versions) are on the Internet and it’s better if you download the image, then as an option, check its hash,
You can download the image of the licensed version of Windows XP Service Pack 3 here: blog.ivru.net/?id=28 and the image is posted via a direct link, that is, you won’t have to download and install any torrent clients.
Do not resist taking MSDN images from the tracker. Let me explain why:
I have an account on MSDN. Six months ago I wanted to download an image from there in order to rearrange the system. But it took a very long time to download from MSDN - so I downloaded it from the tracker (from the root tracker), installed the system, and after that I downloaded the image from MSDN for the night - and then compared it with what was on the tracker - one to one.
And the support service from MSDN, by the way, is good - I called several times, they immediately answered.
Apparently, I didn’t search well, but here they are: msdn.microsoft.com/ru-ru/subscriptions/downloads/default.aspx
Thank you all and sorry!
You need an OEM image, and from a specific manufacturer. And not all manufacturers provide it. Upon purchase, the laptop comes with either a distribution disk (for earlier models), or a recovery disk (for an installed system in the factory state), or an installed utility for creating such a disk from a hidden partition on a hard drive (recently the most frequent case). Technical support can (but is not obliged to) send you such a disk if you persuade them. Kind people sometimes post such images on trackers, ftp and other places. So look on the forums, in the topics where this model is discussed.
As for legality, an image downloaded from somewhere, and therefore installation from it, unfortunately will not be completely legal from the point of view of the legislation of the Russian Federation, despite the presence of a key. Although no one will present claims to you, since after installation it is already impossible to determine where the distribution kit was taken from. (If you are interested in the details, read on iXBT, where this topic has been chewed on repeatedly.)
I had such a case: a Samsung laptop with OEM Windows 7 Home Basic. It was successfully upgraded to a licensed Home Premium via Windows Anytime Upgrade (by the way, is Windows with an OEM license after WAU still considered Windows with an OEM license? In the product code, which is displayed in the system properties as xxxxx-yyy-zzzzzz-zzzzz , part yyy changed from "OEM" to "911")
Then I changed the hard drive to a pristine SSD, installed Home Basic on it from a disk from a licensed Home Basic box (which I bought for a netbook), while entering the OEM key from the sticker on the bottom of the laptop . Windows successfully installed and activated. After that, I also upgraded to Home Premium using a previously purchased WAU key. Again, everything went well and activated.
Based on this, I can assume that the OEM key is also suitable at least for the Retail distribution.
Usually on laptops there are OEM versions of Windows. Try to write to the manufacturer, they definitely have it.
About OEM - for XP there should be no dependence on the manufacturer. Or rather, it is, but from my experience this: the Dell OEM distribution was installed on Dell laptops without keys at all, and on other computers - only with a key. But the key must be for OEM. Boxed will not work (and vice versa too). In addition, the version is important - the key to the home will not work for the pro, etc. Perhaps the language (Russian / English) is important - did not check.
I was also looking for a similar image, because. there was no recovery DVD with my netbook from ASUS, and I accidentally demolished a partition on the disk.
Search results: technical support sends to the SC, where the operation of restoring an HDD with a hidden partition costs 1000-something rubles, MS can send a disk for 26 euros (and you have to wait 3 weeks).
Windows is considered licensed only if it is installed from the original media, so the option from the tracker did not suit me. However, if you are not experimenting “is it possible to actually comply with all these licenses”, this does not matter to you.
Any installation from OEM (Dell, Sony, Toshiba, HP, etc.). You can activate it with the correct oembios.* files (from the manufacturer of the computer) manually or through the oemscan program.
The sticker number is not required. It will either be "flashed" into the installation, or you can enter the usual common number for all OEMs,
Untouched OEM can be downloaded from MSDN or regular torrents. By the way, you can take Pro instead of Home. From the point of view of an OEM computer, they do not differ and are activated in the same way through the same oembios.* files.

Hmm, I logged in with LiveID, but it shows that the download is not available. The question remains open.
I don’t know how it was in XP, but I set myself a seven from MSDN images. If the key was entered during installation, then the installer did not accept it. If I did not enter the key during installation (I put the trial), but entered it on an already installed system connected to the Internet, everything was perfectly accepted. Presumably, Windows connects to some kind of its own server, on which it checks whether a specific serial number matches a specific laptop. Lenovo laptop.
