Licensed 2008 server from unlicensed 2003?

I was working for myself in a small organization Server 2003 Enterprise, but then the management decided that it was time to get licensed.
It was decided to upgrade the installation to 2008 Enterprise SP2 32bit (Open License).
The upgrade went smoothly and practically without overlays (HASP from 1s 7.7 just fell off).
And then I saw the system properties window, which hinted at 3 days left before activation.
The key from the VLSC site is not accepted.
Like The product key you entered is not a valid Windows Server product key.
Is there a way out of this situation?

Well, call the support and say that your purchased key does not work, or is it not a purchased key?
