Legality of using programs

There is a laptop with licensed Windows 7 starter and free office. As I understand it, this is all for the house. I need a laptop for work. For commercial purposes. In order not to risk, I put linux and OpenOffice in parallel.
Can I do it? I mean, if a check comes, what will happen? Can I prove that Windows is for home, linux is for work? Or will everything again come down to our laws and "experts"?

And where does the tax, the license agreement states that you can not use this software with your participation in the business? No. Why do all companies buy older versions of windows? Because they have the ability to join a domain. Do not look for problems for yourself from scratch.

You need to start with the question - whose laptop. If yours is personal, then you should not worry about this issue at all. If the laptop is corporate and is on the balance sheet of the organization, then ... but it seems to me that the laptop is personal and the question is irrelevant.
