LED not working
Hello! I decided to do some crafting here, I assembled a battery of three AA batteries. I connect a motor to this system - everything works. I'm trying to connect an LED from a flashlight - it does not work.
In theory, the LED takes the minus through the leg (in the case, it comes into contact with the minus of the battery), and it takes the plus through the metal disk (it comes into contact with the flashlight body). So why isn't it running on my battery?

PS There is no need to look for any meaning in my actions, just like that, for myself, I decided to try, to develop my horizons, so to speak. Perhaps my question is very stupid.

If you connected directly to 4.5 V, then you have already burned the LED. The cathode (-) in the LED is wider, the crystal is placed here.
Connect a lower voltage to it, for example, 1.5 from a finger-type battery, if it works - perhaps the battery has protection against short circuits and does not start the diode directly. Well, if it doesn’t work, you burned the diode with high voltage. At the end of the 90s, I dismantled the first toys with LEDs and set up all sorts of experiments, then they burn in a light, almost voltage and bright light turns into attenuation, overheating and that's it, the death of the diode) I tend to believe that the battery has short circuit protection.
