Large files (~15GB) won't download in Ubuntu with encryption?
Greetings.
I ran into a problem yesterday. I wanted to download a file from the tracker, which weighs 15 GB. When trying to download, both rocking chairs (Transmission and Deluge) hung tightly, while zombies also spawned. The file that was created and remained with a size of 0 bytes.
System - Ubuntu 10.10, File system - Ext4, encryption of the home partition is used. There are suspicions that such problems are due to encryption. This was also observed when trying to create a disk for a virtual machine in VirtualBox.
Has anyone experienced this and knows how to fix the problem?

Is your torrent client configured in such a way that it immediately reserves all the necessary space for the file?
Try disabling this option.
Although, undoubtedly, this is a crutch and, for sure, there is a more elegant solution.
What encryption is used? What does the built-in installer include?
I immediately stopped using it, reinstalling my home directory at the first opportunity on a partition encrypted with dm-crypt. The main reason: if the work is not completed correctly (the light was turned off, for example, and at home I take out the battery from the laptop), many files on this FUSE-based under-fs are irretrievably damaged.
Now I know the second reason not to use it. :) With dm-crypt, there have never been such problems.
