Lags in VirtualBox when running X on Arch Linux?

Good afternoon.
Put Arch Linux on a virtual machine (VirtualBox). I wanted to see what kind of animal it is.
In mkinitcpio.conf in MODULES="i915"
X set it like this:

pacman -S xorg-server xorg-xinit xorg-server-utils mesa xterm

I installed it for the video (everyone advises installing it if the installation is on a virtual machine):
pacman -S xf86-video-vesa
Then I installed xfce, but I noticed this problem even just with startx!
The screen is drawn on a frame per second, the mouse, respectively, also lags and the keyboard.
I put it 2 times. The same result. I played with the settings in VBox: set the video memory to 128 MB and 3D acceleration - the result of the same. Ubuntu host machine - full of Windows virtual machines installed - everything works without problems. I don't understand what's the matter. What can be tweaked in the X settings? Maybe I'm choosing the wrong driver? That is, the effect is like running a modern game on an old tree stump. Slide show. And, I can't screw up.
I ask for your help.

@fogersp

native core?
have you installed VBoxGuestAdditions ?
loaded VBox modules on the host and guest (vboxvideo, etc.) systems?
read VirtualBox-en or VirtualBox-ru ?
