Joomla :: How to quickly implement a dynamic site?

Hello gentlemen :)
As always, a fun task from the customer - but you have to do it.
The bottom line is this: There is a site that the customer wants to completely copy.
I copied the actual layout in html / css, took the files - everything works.
But a static site is not enough for him, he wants to be able to add his own categories, edit the text through the admin panel + add information to the categories (points).
1) Which free CMS to choose to put the layout on the CMS.
I'm considering Joomla. Knowledge of php, joomla is weak.
So far, I've put the code into the template - the site will show. BUT the first snag is how to add a block in which categories will be pulled up. So that if I set several in the admin panel, they will be displayed on the site in a list. Actually, when the customer comes in and adds a category, it appears in the list on the site. (how to implement it through the code, what exactly to insert - I didn’t find adequate advice in Google, and apparently there are specifics of the joomla and special functions
)
That is, when a person clicks on a category on the main page, he gets to a new page:
On the left is a column with subcategories - on the right is info corresponding to the category.
When you click on a subcategory, without transition, it will show the info text on the right.
I know that I ask a lot, but advise / suggest an idea - how to do this.
With static layouts and from scratch on SMS to do something the experience is there. But with the pulling of templates ready for CMS - no.
Save the trouble) And then I even took crutches in the form of tidycms as a variant))) xddd. But it won't roll.
Thank you!!!!

MODx Evolution is the easiest way to install a template on a cms. There is a lot of information in Google, for simple and medium tasks even for a novice developer it will do, but it is still advisable to start learning php + mysql + lamp

My personal opinion.
For such tasks, it will be more useful for you to take a framework and do it yourself.
Then you will not have questions about which function to call in Joomla.
You can take the same Laravel and do it in 48 hours, thank God there is a lot of documentation + there are ready-made solutions to some problems on the Internet.
If you still want a CMS:
Take a standard template in which it is and look at its code, in fact, all questions will disappear immediately.

If you want to take Joomla - take it. You can implement it at any TsMSke. Joomla can be mastered well enough in 2 days, the initial knowledge of php is quite enough. You will succeed! ;)
