Java project in Eclipse is cleaned before each compilation

There is a big Java project. The Build automatically checkbox is disabled. I make a change in one class, click Build project (or Build all or Build working set...) and Eclipse starts doing "Clearing output folder".

How would this be avoided?

So, stop… why are you doing a build-all? Does it really make sense to disable the incremental build? Or through build all you collect jar somewhere? Then it can be done without disabling the automatic build. Or is it a web project? Describe in more detail?
