Is this method of teaching English effective?

The 2nd month I go to English courses (for beginners, straight from scratch, the duration of the course is 5 months).
Classes, as a rule, follow this principle: a lesson explains a new topic in grammar -> set homework - as a rule, understand / learn the explained topic in grammar and learn new words (written assignments are rarely given) -> one or two lessons fix the topic.
Fixing the topic goes like this: we write dictations / try to translate something orally. At the same time, the sentences that we are translating are quite long, very often you need to apply all the material that we have gone through, contain words that we actually did not learn (which were mentioned several times during past classes) and the teacher demands to do all this in a very fast mode. As a result, several problems arise:
1. Sentences are very difficult to translate - it is difficult to remember a bunch of material, rules and apply all this in a short time. The teacher says that this is how it should be - they say we should slowly and with all reference materials translate sentences at home (only which ones? Homework for translations is rarely asked, is it something to invent sentences ourselves?), And in the lesson - you need to train to translate quickly and try to formulate at least something at least somehow, even if something is not completely clear.
2. There are a lot of errors in the sentences. We do not analyze these errors in detail - the teacher simply corrects them in the dictation, and in turn each of the group members must verbally translate the sentences in a new way (while the teacher also corrects the errors orally), and all the other participants, as far as I understand, must hear by ear their mistakes and draw their own conclusions. At the same time, the teacher says that there is no need to focus on mistakes - everything will become more clear in the future, on the following topics, when there will be more space to apply everything that has been covered.

If specifically you feel the effect of it - specifically for you , it is effective. If not, no.
This is the most accurate and detailed answer that can be given to such a question - everyone's brain works differently and what works well for one person will be useless for another.
Please contact your teacher with these questions. If he cannot convince you, choose courses where the technique suits you best.

The most effective technique is conversations. You should just talk to the teacher. Dictations? Are you going to translate articles? Grammar, syntax, punctuation. Well, you can learn it in a couple of weeks.
Effectively, it's a speech like "I verb home and verb adj. dog, which verb is adv." You translate and learn incomprehensible words, and that's it.
4 months out of 5 you have to learn words and practice speaking. Never learn sentences and texts by heart.
