Is there any useful "botnet"?

There is a fairly powerful PC that works about 20 hours a day, and sometimes 24. I would like to somehow use its power for the benefit of society. Are there any scientific services whose client can be installed on a PC (Win / * nix - it doesn’t matter), thereby giving excess power to this service? For example, any mathematical calculations?
PC specs:
AMD FX-8150 (8 cores, overclocked to 3.5GHz), 8GB RAM (I'll add the same next week), 2TB HDD SATA3, network 20Mbit down / 40Mbit up (up to 100 at night).

Keep in mind that this story will heat up, guzzle electricity and hum fans at high speeds.

By the way, I’m wondering, huge capacities are idle on a huge pile of enterprises across the country. Why not use them for a good cause?
