Is there an e-book exchange service?
Has anyone thought about the existence of a service for exchanging e-books?
Let me describe what I mean by my question.
It would be just great to have such a program that monitors the presence of e-books in a certain directory on your PC (you can choose the folder for sharing yourself). These are programs like Mendeley and Docear.
The user fills in all the required fields - author, title, year, etc.
The program automatically shares your books from this directory to other users on the network (which is like a torrent) and they can download them to their database.
If there are repeated books, users can vote for the best option and then the best option remains in the database, and the worst one only belongs to the original owner.
It would be great if this software would be free (like PopCornTime) for faster development, although the same Docear OpenSource.
Who has any thoughts? Utopia?

I don't quite agree about illegality. It's a matter of using the tool. It is possible to equate pitchforks with melee weapons. If using the program to exchange copyright-free works, then there is nothing criminal in this. I hope I managed to convey my point of view.
Now another question (it's not very reasonable, of course, to ask a question in a question, but what can you do): how to convey the idea to those who can and want to implement such a program? Maybe someone dare to write an article - "zazyvashku" on Habré))?

The library works like a wiki. This means that adding books, authors and any other information is done by users. The administration of the content of the library is fundamentally not involved.
First of all, carefully read the Rules and FAQ. Otherwise, don't be offended if you're then poked in the nose in response to stupid questions. Also check out the Books FAQ for a lot of useful information.
The library is in the process of active formation and growth, therefore, during use, strange and unpredictable phenomena called glitches can occur. Be sure to let us know about those.
Yes, but what is the fundamental difference with torrents? Copyright holders will not only be dissatisfied, it threatens with the criminal code.
And if you are serious about the free circulation of information, study the history of the issue. Here the founder of Pirate Bay has already disowned the topic.
IMHO, if this is done, then the easiest way is to do it as some kind of plug-in for Caliber - if, of course, the Caliber architecture allows it.
But why?
Why search and free download complicate the creation of special programs?
"The need for inventions is cunning!". E-book exchange sites have appeared between users from personal libraries. Here is an example: club-books.ru There are other similar sites, some of which were created back in 2006. The idea is not new, but now it is becoming even more relevant.
