Is there an analogue of the Windows 8(8.1) Start Screen for Linux?

The start screen is the former Start, for the sake of clarity. A question arose in connection with a possible move to linux, but uncomfortable tree-like menus already cause a serious shudder, and the desktop cannot be called over open windows, and you can’t rotate it with the mouse to the required group of shortcuts either. Sadness in general and continuous inconvenience.

And the actual unit, from which everyone spit, is not what you need?

Well, I was sure that idiots who, at the start of the system, really need MSN news, the entrance to the store, an X-box advertisement and a ton of other muddiness, do not exist in nature.
It turns out that hamsters can be trained to do anything!
Well, look at Ubuntu with Unity as it comes by default. There, the menu is not tree-like, and to work with it, you also need to search, because everything is also piled up there, but larger. Looks like it's for you...

Linux has a lot of " desktops " like START buttons. And they are configured differently.
Go to YouTube and search for the following keywords and see what you like.
Xfce
GNOME
KDE
LXDE
