Is there a text audio format?

At one time I was very surprised to learn about the text formats of raster graphics Portable anymap . And I appreciated their convenience when you need to quickly check something - after all, such a format does not need a separate library for reading, and it is simply parsed.
So is there anything similar for sound?

It is interesting how you can display a variety of timbres, frequencies and keys with text. If you simplify it to a single tone signal, then it can also be displayed with symbols :

Once I was interested in such formats: MO3 / IT / XM / S3M / MTM trackers.
