Is there a suitable web interface for sharing media files?

There is a home network, outside - white IP, inside the network - a computer working around the clock with a large collection of family files: audio / photo / video. There is a desire to have access to it from outside the house (for one's own trips or far-living family members) through the web interface: in the spirit of the list of folders, categories, the ability to work directly in the browser (photo gallery by folders / video player / audio player / download ) - to minify the required level of computer literacy.
What can be used?
Once I tried OwnCloud (in the role of a web interface with authorization for shares), but, as far as I remember, there were certain problems due to the fact that files are simply stored directly in folders, and not downloaded specifically through OwnCloud's interface.
