DNS is an application layer protocol of the OSI model, while routing is performed at the network layer.
Your task is easily solved by using a proxy and a browser extension like FoxyProxy. Solutions using VPN, I repeat, I have no idea.
Although... if we combine these two approaches, the problem will be solved. You can deploy a proxy server and pass all requests to it through the VPN connection. Then, using the same FoxyProxy, you can force the browser to use this proxy server for the domains you need, and requests for them will eventually go through your VPN.
