Is there a ready solution for 40 Tb file storage?
What are the options? Has anyone already collected these? I myself tend to build a desktop with RAID controllers and a bunch of 4TB disks. Chose RAID 5. If anyone has experience - share.

If your data is of an "archival" nature, then you can take a separate piece of iron.
These guys have been doing high-density disk placement in production for almost 5 years. In the article, by the way, there is a specification for the hardware in full.
But these guys apparently borrowed the idea and are now selling pieces of iron.
But if you are going to actively read all of your data, I would simply think about building a distributed storage.
Just buy a two-unit 12-disk server with one raid controller (although I prefer to stick the screws into the mother directly).
There are more, for example, Supermicro releases a line of ready-made StorageServers up to 72 HDD 3"5 and chassis for them.
Servers are not an option, very expensive. As I understand it, there are all SAS disks. More important place and reliability.
Unless there are servers under SATA disks?
With a large number of disks, the "another disk has failed" state will shift from "emergency" to "scheduled event" for you.
So duplication is a must .
