Is there a normal application for video and audio calls on Android?

Welcome all.
We are looking for an application for video calls for Android smartphone, which is stable and fast, has good connection quality (both audio and video), does not fill the screen with ads and can work without external servers ( P2P ) or Self-Hosted .
I tried different applications, ranging from the almost dead Skype to the Tango adware with ads, number binding and communication like from the toilet. I also tried crafts like P2P Video Call, which, although it works, but only in the local network via WiFi, and besides, it behaved unstable during tests, there is no noise reduction, the picture periodically hangs.
The idea has already arisen to make such an application myself, but there is practically no knowledge in this area, and I will most likely quickly burn out alone ^_^. Although, if volunteers appear, I am ready to rent a good VPS in Moscow or the USA for free, I can help with the development of an API server for the application.
Such a need arose because there is a person close to me who lives far away, because of his age, it is already difficult for him to write a text and understand something more complicated than pressing the handset button, and I also want to see each other when communicating.
I would be grateful for help or, who knows, creating a popular application, at the request of workers :D
