Is there a method of systematic development of the site?
Hello.
Now they are launching a fairly large portal.
I made TK for it quite primitively:
1) I took my old portal
2) I looked at things that bring money
3) I looked at things that do not work
4) I looked at what they asked me, but I didn’t have.
5) Relate this to the main idea of the portal.
As a result, I finalized what works, reworked / removed what does not work, added what was asked. And on the basis of this I made a new version.
Now I'm launching it, and I have a question for the future: "Is there any technique that will tell you the right patterns for developing the site's functionality?". Those. what statistics do you need, what is a priority, what can you score on, and so on?

The priority is the depth of viewing, and time on the site. Look at YM or Analytics. Here the user came, read, did what he needed, and left. But it is necessary to keep the user on the site as long as possible, now if you believe all the same statistics, then the relevance by time on the site is determined by search engines.
I also note that it is convenient to use the method: lean startup - testing new directions / refactoring old ones.
