Is there a difference between sticking RAM in slots 1 and 2 or 3 and 4?

Because of the cooler, it is more convenient to insert memory into slots 3-4, and leave slots 1-2 empty. From this dual-chenal will not fall off?

Well, knowing the motherboard model, you can give an accurate and exhaustive answer:
dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1155/P8H77-V_LE/E7...
section 1.7.1, which is also page 26.
One DIMM follows install in any of the two blue slots to choose from: A2 or B2, they are also the second and fourth, counting from the processor.
Two identical DIMMs must be installed in both blue slots (A2 and B2).
So if you want to use dual channel, you still have to plug one of the modules into the second slot. If you use B1 and B2 (3rd and 4th slots), this will be a single channel configuration.
