Is there a cross-platform, open-source equivalent of encfs with gui?

There will be a lot of text...
A few years ago, I moved from container formats to an encrypted file system. This format allows you to synchronize files with the cloud, which is very convenient. For this purpose, I chose such a wonderful program for Windows which is called EncFSMP. It almost completely suits me, but there are a couple of drawbacks. It uses the same version 1.7.4 for which an audit was conducted and some vulnerabilities were found there. The new version of EncFSMP numbered 0.90 and 0.90.1 uses the new 1.9.5 version of encfs which fixes these vulnerabilities. But these versions contain bugs, and the author of the program usually does not update the program for a very long time. For months, or even a year. The changes that have been made are also not so significant. And that's why I wanted to find an analogue of this program. On the other hand, there is Cryptomator. It suits me, but there is a huge drawback. The read/write speed is very slow. For example, if there are a lot of photos in the mounted "container", even with the usual paging or when creating thumbnails, the system is very slow. And firmly. I tested the speed of the mounted partition in 5 passes and the average read speed showed 12-13mb / s. While encfs showed 96mb/s. The difference is so significant that the program could not be used. And I tested both in Win7 and in Linux Mint. Equally. The difference is so significant that the program could not be used. And I tested both in Win7 and in Linux Mint. Equally. Actually questions:
1. What cross-platform open analog of encfs with gui exists?
2. Does not syncing the encryption data file (.encfs6.xml) to the cloud improve security? For example, will it protect against those vulnerabilities that are in version 1.7.4?
3. What can you recommend for encrypting data in the cloud for a beginner?

@DamianLewis

Found 2 options.
1. You can install the latest version of encfs and use the SiriKali shell for it.
Where to take? Download WinFsp from here , then the encfs binary package for Windows, and the SiriKali shell . Install WinFsp first, then encfs and reboot. Next, install SiriKali and use it. Without a reboot, SiriKali will not see the installed encfs.
2. Install an analogue of encfs. In fact, the project was created under the inspiration of encfs, as the developers say about it. It's called gocryptfs . Here is its comparison with analogues, including encfs itself. It has a port for Windows. Get cppcryptfs from here. For the program to work, or rather for mounting in Windows, this program needs another program called Docan . Without it, this program will not run.
All of these programs are open source! Enjoy.
