Is the SSD drive type only required for Host Cache on ESXi?
Hello!
I have a server with ESXi 6.0 (free). Two of the 4 drives on it are SSD. But in vSphere Client, all disks are marked as non-SSD. There are a bunch of articles out there that show you how to get an ESXi host to recognize SSD drives correctly. But in all articles, this is considered in relation to further placement on the SSD Host Cache. If I don't plan to enable and host Host Cache on an SSD yet, should I change the drive type in ESXi? Will it affect performance? (maybe TRIM doesn't work in case of non-SSD?)
