Is such training productive?
DD! At the moment, although I have spent more than a month studying js, everything comes to a giant giraffe, now I have a rest, on which I plan to spend the evenings studying, but one thing will not be at hand laptop / PC.
From this follows the question, since, nevertheless, the development in the majority loves practice, will there be a profit from studying the materials, if I can solve problems, then only on paper, with subsequent verification when I return or will it be a waste of time?
Maybe someone had similar experience.

Take more basic books: on algorithms, patterns, structures, approaches, etc. Not tied to a specific language. This will always be useful, and will not require coding to practice.
Effective learning of a particular language is, on the contrary, pure practice, reading there should only go in parallel as necessary.
This is a matter of psychology, sometimes, on the contrary, take a break from the computer and meditate on a book, and then pee on a piece of paper helps a lot. No one knows the mystery when what is read is suddenly assimilated in the head, it just happens. The more you love programming and the less stressed you are, the easier and faster it will be. Therefore, the only advice - do not worry, learn for your own pleasure and do not try to understand. The more you try to understand, the harder it is to understand. When you study in a completely relaxed state, understanding magically happens by itself and instantly.
