Is mysql sticking out and only accepting requests from the right trusted ip addresses secure?
Pretty stupid question, but whatever.
there are servers A and B, which are from different providers.
server A will have to host mysql, and server B will use it, therefore, the database will stick out.
Is this scenario safe, provided that the database will only accept requests from the IP address of server B? Or is the local network/vpn option better?

If you block access to the MySQL port with a firewall to all but trusted IPs, then it is still tolerable.
The LAN/vpn option is better.
