Is mobile game development relevant as a business?

Hello. My partner and I have a total of 10 million rubles. We want to start a mobile game development company, because in our opinion this is a very promising direction. We ourselves are not very competent in this area (not game development and not programmers), but we are quite versed in all terms and advertising.
With this money, we plan to assemble a small team, including an experienced manager who knows this area, and release the first game. Does it make sense to go there and invest in this industry?

I don't know, maybe I'm the only one, but it seems to me that the question is not posed correctly. If you raise the question of the region's profitability, then the answer is yes, there are people who receive money for this. First of all, HOW are you going to do it, what niche to occupy, and so on and so forth. all this is of greater importance than posing the question, is it possible to earn money. It's not uncommon these days to find examples of indie games written in a garage that have higher revenue per product than many AAA games. If you want to hire a person and say, make me a game to have a lot of money, most likely you have chosen the wrong approach.

Without experience with such an amount, you have almost no chance of doing anything. Only if you are lucky to assemble a professional team, and without experience in the industry, you will not assemble it right away.
The mobile phone market is complex and overheated with money. Much of the monetization is based on buying traffic at a high price and trying to squeeze more out of the players than they were worth. That is, in addition to development costs, you will need several times more money for marketing.
Also keep in mind that even a professional team will need to work together, develop some tools, find a niche. That is, the first few projects are guaranteed to go into the red.
What can be done:
- Find a ready-made team with existing high-quality projects and pour money into them for marketing (and closing personnel gaps).
- Add a zero to the amount and hope that there will be enough brains and good luck to pull it out for this amount.

It is logical to assume that since you are not the first, teams are gathering, games are being written, money is being earned, then you can succeed in this area.
Whether it will work for you is a completely different question.

Weird question. Those who have made money on this will say that there is a sense, and those who have gone bankrupt, the opposite. It is important to believe in your product, I guess. Do you believe in your product? The answer to this question will answer yours. Or a product, idea, at least something, as such, does not exist? Well, if you hire an experienced manager, what order will you give him? "Make a game, I don't know which one, but make money"? Maybe it's easier then to invest in an existing project?

If you can only write a game that gets well over a million installs.
And how much more to pay off, consider yourself.
Start with pessimistic assessments.
50% will delete the game on the first day
If the gameplay is long, then in a month there will be 10%
In-game purchases will make 1%
Estimate how much you can earn on average from one person.
Calculate acquisition costs.
How long will it take to reach zero (revenues = expenses)
Make a plan for expanding the team and increasing costs (payroll)
A prototype can be created by 2 people (designer and programmer)
At an early stage, test the prototype if it makes sense to finish all the functionality.
At any moment it may turn out that it is more profitable to bury the idea ..
At best, only one of 20 prototypes will fire.
The money will have to be invested for at least a year.
If the game is originally paid there is a slightly different arithmetic.
To pay off, you need to sell copies of at least COST * 3 / starting price of the game

I do not advise.
You can try to find good games that lack money and invest. But here you need to understand the games.

We have just another problem. Just finished the product. Developed at our own expense. It is an order of magnitude more than 10 million. This is not really a game, more of an entertainment app for children 4-10. Now we are looking for money for marketing. We can take into the project at 7% for this money and your ability to promote it. The product is already in the stores, the team is there, there are no other shareholders. There is a unique idea for creating a mobile game. Now at the stage of game design, in May game dok and terms of reference, development in June-July-August. September launch. This is what everyone is looking for, the simplicity made in the garage, and attracts the attention of millions. I propose to create a company from scratch. 50 to 50. Responsible for production. There is a whole series of games in this direction. The amount is sufficient for development, launch and good publishing (3/4 of the amount). [email protected]
