Is it worth writing a game engine to be "big and smart" in front of an employer?
I was interested in the topic of writing game engines while studying OpenGL for the laboratory. And now I'm thinking whether to spend a few months on such a practice or go further according to the "plan".
Basically, I'd like to find a job as a UE4 developer.
Will the employer be interested if I have the practice of writing my own game engine, in addition to the ability to write in UE4?

it’s good to expect some pet projects from a junior, where you can see not what he did, but how. If you are interested in the fastest possible employment, then start doing projects, not bicycles. It is worth paying a lot of attention to the structure of the project
